How we review
Every guide here carries one of four labels, so you always know what the opinion is based on.
Four labels

Stayed.
We slept there. Everything described comes from the stay itself.

Tasted.
We ate there. What we describe is the food and the table, not an overnight stay.

Visited.
We toured the property in person but did not stay overnight.

Researched.
We have not been there. The guide reads published information and photos the way a hotel manager reads a listing.
What we look at
- Getting there. How you arrive, and whether you need a car.
- Quiet. Noise, crowds and how the season changes the place.
- Rooms and sleep. Comfort, light, and whether the photos tell the truth.
- Local ties. Who runs the place and what it gives back to its community.
- Value. What you get for the price, said plainly.
What every guide includes
The label, who looked at the place and when, and any connection or commission we have with it.
What we do not do
We never describe a place as visited when it was not. We do not take payment in exchange for a positive review. If we stay as a guest of a property, or accept a gift, we say so.
